Cross-Country Skiing in Salzburg: From the Hotel on the track!
Perfect cross-country skiing trails in the heart of Austria's Alps
Cross-country skiing in the province of Salzburg: With more than 200 kilometres in total, the Lammertal and Salzachtal Valleys are considered to be two of the most popular destinations for Nordic sports.
The Lämmerhof is located in the middle of the always-snowy Lammertal Valley and is the ideal destination for a cross-country skiing holiday. Directly in front of the hotel is the start of the classic 30 km long trail that is partially a skating track as well. Via a connecting trail you can make it all the way to St. Martin in the Tennengebirge Mountain Range - perfect for a break at a quaint inn.
From the hotel on the trail in Salzburg
In your holidays at Alpine Hotel Lämmerhof you enter the cross-country skiing network of St. Martin at the Tennengebirge Mountain Range directly in front of the door. Run your rounds on the Lammertal or the Aualm trail and enjoy the marvellous view between Tennengebirge and Gosaukamm Mountain Range. First mentioned mountain range is responsible for the high amounts of snow each year because it blocks the way of the clouds. However, the best thing is: The trail fee is included in the Tennengau Plus Card that you get upon arrival.
Trail | Classic length | Skating length | Distance | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
St. Martin & Lammertal | 30 km | 4,5 km | Directly on the doorstep of the Lämmerhof Hotel! | Lovers of the classic cross-country skiing style will find a paradise directly in front of the Lämmerhof. The trail meanders over the hilly landscape of the Lammertal. Via the Göglloipe you will reach the trails of the village St. Martin. |
Neubachtal in Lungötz |
9 km | 9 km | ca. 5 min. | We recommend the trail in Lungötz especially for skating skiers, which leads deep into the Neubachtal Valley. But also classic skiers will find a marvellous 9 km trail along the idyllic Neubach river there. Worth mentioning is in any case the always perfectly groomed track which is a bonus especially for the skaters. |
Abtenau | 38 km | 18 km | ca. 20 min. | The Abtenau region counts almost 40 km of trails in every difficulty and is situated just 20 minutes by car from the Lämmerhof. For classic skiers we recommend the picturesque Egelsee trail, for skaters the always perfectly groomed Auloipe. |
Postalm near Abtenau |
22 km | 22 km | ca. 45 min. (toll road!) | On the biggest alpine pasture of Salzburg you will have a marvellous view on the Tennengau and Salzkammergut regions on every trail. But be aware: The trails are quite tough with its many ascents and descents! |
Gnadenalm near Untertauern |
19 km | 19 km | ca. 35 min. | You will get up to speed very easily on the flat blue trail on the valley floor of the Gnadenalm near Untertauern. If that's too boring for you try to tackle the additional loops of the "Tauern-Power" trail and gain some elevation. That's why Austrian top athletes train here regularly. |
Höhenloipe Rossbrand near Filzmoos |
16 km | 16 km | ca. 35 min., then by cable car (ca. € 15.00) | You can reach the Rossbrand mountain top trails only by cable car. However, that's not the end of the ascent. You will gain some more elevation up to the real peak. Though the scenery with panoramic view on the Dachstein and Bischofsmütze mountains outweighs the stresses and strains of getting there. |
