The Lammertal during the festive season: Christmas & Advent

When the days get a little more peaceful again, the first flakes of snow begin to fall, and the local people return to customs that strike many outsiders as strange, it means the waiting is finally over: Christmastime in Salzburg is approaching! Those who associate Christmas with stressful and hectic times should take the time to read through the following.

In the run up to Christmas, you will experience something of a different atmosphere at the Lämmerhof. In the winter, the Lammertalcertainly lives up to everything that can possibly be associated with the title of "festive season".

Krampus, Christkindl, Perchten & Co.

The end of the year is when the many customs and traditions in Salzburg really come to life. According to the age-old tradition, Krampus keeps evil spirits at bay during the Christmas season, while at the end of December, the Perchten herald the new year and bring health and happiness. Even if these darker fantasy figures don't make such a nice impression, their traditions are deeply rooted in the region and are always worth seeing.

The Salzburg Christkindl Market

The numerous festive and Christmas markets, at which punch and mulled wine take centre stage, are already a little more magical. The markets are frequented by craftsmen with beautifully designed Christmas decorations, as well as bakers who offer tasty and beautiful Christmas pastries and cakes.

You are sure to have heard of one of the world's most famous Christmas markets, the Salzburg Christkindl market. The market, which is situated around the cathedral in Salzburg Old Town, certainly lives up to its reputation. It is joined by any number of additional markets in the nearby towns, all of which have their own charm. Make sure you visit the age-old "Großarl Bergadvent" (Christmas market in the mountains), the traditional "Krampus Treiben" event at Winterstellgut Christmas market in Annaberg, or the idyllic Christmas market by the lake in St. Martin.

Spend the quiet time of the year in the Lammertal

Christmas in the Lammertal

At the Lämmerhof in the snowy Lammertal you won't find the stress and strain of the usual run up to Christmas - but a quiet valley in the heart of the Salzburg mountains. Although the surrounding Christmas markets and traditional events are nearby, at the end of the day you can still return to the Lammertal, where you can switch off and relax. Whether it is a snow shoe walk at the Tennen Mountains or in the wellness area at the Lämmerhof: You will see that you can literally take the festive season at its word!

Start the new year away from the daily grind

It goes without saying that the turn of new year also comes with celebrations at the Lämmerhof! The champagne corks pop and colourful fireworks light up the skies. Yet the Lammertal isn't a place where you will find aprés ski bars or wild parties. At the Lämmerhof you will find the perfect place for a winter holiday with your family, surrounded by nature and tradition. Those who would still like to party away into the small hours will find every opportunity to do so in the nearby towns.

The Christmas and festive season in the Lammertal is certainly a little different from the familiar. In general, however, just one thing counts here: being together with your family, enjoying the peace, and focusing on the genuinely important things in your life. It is in this note that the Hedegger family looks forward to receiving your non-binding enquiry or online booking. Take a look at the all-inclusive offers in the winter!
