Enjoy the spring with a short break on the public holidays in May!

How about a short break in the countryside, a far cry from the daily grind? Taking a holiday in May isn't just a good idea due to the well-placed public holidays. Age-old traditions, natural scenery and many options for an active holiday are three more reasons why this time of the year is so special.

And at the Lämmerhof Alpine guest house you will be certain to find all three. Experience the culture of the Lammertal during the annual folklore weeks and explore the surrounding Alpine pastures and the Tennengebirge Mountains during the hiking weeks.

Culture & tradition in the Salzburg region in May

On Ascension Day, St. Martin am Tennengebirge hosts the local First Communion each year; on Whitsun weekend the Confirmation, and on Corpus Christi, the procession with the Holy Mother Mary. These festivals all have one thing in common: The whole village changes into its traditional costume, folk music groups provide atmospheric entertainment, and the local innkeepers throw their doors open for the so-called "Hoagaschtn" - which means sitting down together, telling stories and having fun.

Holiday in the spring: total action with water sports

The spring offers something special for all water sports enthusiasts: the melting snow supplies the surrounding rivers, becks and ravines with plenty of water. This makes the spring the best time of the year for an outdoor holiday, and provides the ideal conditions for rafting, kayak trips, canyoning, hydro-speed and many other varieties of water sports. In Abtenau, which is just 20 minutes away, you can join the trained guides and take to the waters in Aubach or Voglau and experience your own outdoor adventure.

Active in the Spring in the Salzburg Mountains

When the first spring flowers start to bloom and the snow has finally melted away from the hiking trails, the surrounding mountain pastures come to life once again. At the end of May, the cattle return to the pastures and the surrounding mountain lodges serve the hikers with delicious products from the local region.

Those who want to experience the natural scenery that surrounds the Lämmerhof are advised to join Anita on one of the guided tours in the weekly programme. On a Nordic walking tour or on a walk that takes in the Alpine lodges, you get to explore the most attractive paths in the Lammertal. At the weekly Angling & barbecues at the hotel pond in the Lämmerhof, you can try out your luck and have lots of fun going fishing.
